2025 CA Legislative Session Gets Underway!
AVFCA is Focused on Getting
Health Rights Legislation Authored in CA

Our hearts and prayers go out to all those affected by the devastating fires in Los Angeles. A Voice for Choice Advocacy stands in solidarity with the impacted communities and extend our deepest gratitude to the brave firefighters, first responders, and volunteers who are tirelessly working to protect lives, deliver supplies, and support those in need during this difficult time.

Over the past decade, AVFCA has grown into a respected grassroots advocacy organization championing families’ health rights in the California Capitol. Our efforts focus on eliminating toxins and promoting informed choice, transparency, and privacy regarding the products people consume—whether in food, water, air, pharmaceuticals, or cosmetics.

As we look ahead, we’re energized by the prospect of RFK Jr. and his HHS team potentially addressing similar critical issues at the federal level, expanding the impact of the work AVFCA has dedicated ourselves to for the past 10 years.

Echoing RFK Jr.’s priorities, Governor Newsom recently signed an Executive Order calling for transformative action to mitigate the harms of ultra-processed foods and synthetic dyes, elevate nutrition standards for school meals, and increase access to fresh, healthy food in underserved communities. A Voice for Choice Advocacy is proud to support and amplify these initiatives, ensuring they drive meaningful, lasting change for families across California.

With the California legislative session underway, our legislative team is actively engaging with legislative offices to secure authors for at least one of our 13 bill proposals, as well as educating on these crucial topics. These proposals address critical topics such as food safety and labeling, toxic substance removal, and consumer health privacy and rights.  Securing a bill author is no small feat, as it involves competing with well-funded organizations and professional lobbyists.

Despite these challenges, A Voice for Choice Advocacy stands out as the only organization within the health freedom movement that has successfully sponsored and inspired multiple different pieces of legislation over the past four years, including:

AB 1989 (2020) Asm Cristina Garcia - The Menstrual Products Right to Know Act ensuring labeling of all menstrual product ingredients

SB 499 (2023) Sen Menjivar - The Cool Schools Act mitigating extreme heat and air pollution in CA Public schools.  Unfortunately, it met its demise due to budget constraints after garnering bipartisan support in both houses

AB 246 (2023) and AB 2515 (2024) Asm Papan - Take All Menstrual Product-PFAS Out Now (T.A.M.P.O.N.) Act prohibiting the sale of menstrual products that contain PFAS

SB-903 (2024) Sen Skinner - PFAS Free California prohibiting the distribution or sale of any product that contain PFAS.  Unfortunately, it met its demise due to strong manufacturer opposition

SB 1266 (2024) Sen Limon – This law prohibits any form of bisphenol in all children’s feeding product or children’s sucking or teething products

Over the years, AVFCA has also been a key organization in neutralizing bad bills in California, as well as supporting hundreds of good bills that fall within our mission.

Your support makes it possible for us to fight for transparency, safer food, stronger protections against harmful substances, and health privacy rights.  AVFCA is completely funded by donations made by people like you.  Your donations enable us to keep doing this important legislative work.  Over the last 10 years A Voice for Choice Advocacy, and our sister organization, A Voice for Choice, have been sustained only by grassroots donations, as well as my own significant donations.  We are so thankful to everyone who has generously donated.  However, AVFCA always needs your help to make our efforts sustainable.  If you appreciate the work we do, AVFCA asks you to donate as generously as you can - no amount is too little or too great!  If you are not already, please consider becoming a monthly donor:
