Withholding Tax Annual Return and Deposit Due Dates
The Minnesota Withholding Tax return and deposit for annual filers is due January 31.
Exception: If your Minnesota tax withheld exceeded $500 during the year before December 1, a deposit was due the last day of the month following the month you exceeded $500. For example, if your tax withheld totaled $509 on October 31, a deposit was due November 30.
Businesses must meet certain criteria and have pre-approval from the Minnesota Department of Revenue to file and deposit withholding tax annually. If you qualify for annual filing, you may have received a letter at the end of last year. You must contact us and request annual filing.
For details on filing and depositing requirements, see Annual Deposit Schedule and Annual Filers on pages 8-9 of the Minnesota Income Tax Withholding instructions.
