Bossin’ the booze with Razor, Motty, and Franks

Watch Bossin' The Booze with Razor, Motty, and Franks

To mark the start of the Dry January® challenge, Neil ‘Razor’ Ruddock, former footballing legend, is joined by Alcohol Change UK ambassadors Jay Motty and Frazer Franks in this inspiring new film to discuss their personal experiences with alcohol, and how the drinking culture in football played a part.

Speaking about the challenge, Razor said: “I'll be joining the huge number of blokes taking part in the Dry January® challenge in 2025 and I’m looking forward to it. It was great to sit down with Fraser and Jay to chat about our own experiences with alcohol and football, and the benefits you can get from having a break."

More than one in four (29%) Brits are planning an alcohol-free January in 2025 to give their mind, body and bank balance a boost, according to new research from Alcohol Change UK. Topping the motivations for those attempting a 31-day break from booze is a desire to save money (24%), followed by better sleep (18%), losing weight and improving fitness and overall health (all 16%).

It's time for action on alcohol harm

Alcohol Change UK recently provided a response to the Change NHS consultation, intended to provide views to the Department of Health and Social Care and NHS England as they begin work to develop the 10-Year Health Plan for England.

In our response, we highlighted that action on alcohol harm is essential to delivering:

  • An NHS that is there when people need it

  • Fewer lives lost to the biggest killers: cardiovascular disease, suicide, and cancer

  • A fairer Britain where everyone lives well for longer
