** What's coming up in 2025?
------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Supporter
2025 is a big year for transport. Not only is it a massive anniversary for rail ([link removed]) , but really fundamental changes are happening - or about to happen - to the way public transport is run.
Change is needed. We hear every day from people for whom public transport is not working: cancelled trains, not enough buses, illogical tickets. And change cannot come too soon. Transport is our leading contributor to climate change, which has already had such tragic impacts in 2025.
But we need the right sort of change. Because some changes take us in the wrong direction - like the increase in rail fares coming up in March. And so this year, Campaign for Better Transport will focus on making sure that the upcoming changes to transport work for passengers and for the planet.
Here are four of our priorities for 2025:
* Integrated transport. The Government is preparing an Integrated National Transport Strategy, which is a crucial opportunity for us (the only charity working across all transport modes) to campaign for a transformed, sustainable network built around buses, trains and trams, shared transport, walking and cycling, with more freight carried by rail.
* Making rail reform work for passengers. The Government is reforming the way the railways are run. We will work to make sure those reforms lead to real improvements for passengers: fair fares and more reliable trains.
* Buses for all. We will press for a 'bus service guarantee' ([link removed]) to ensure all communities have at least a minimum, reasonable level of bus service, as well as better bus stops.
* All aboard! Our Better Transport Week 2025 ([link removed]) will champion sustainable transport and encourage people to give it a try.
Supporter, we are fortunate to have the support of people like you, who appreciate the huge role transport plays in shaping our days, our lives, our communities and our environment. We are looking forward to working with you to make transport better, this year and beyond.
Very best wishes
Paul and the Campaign for Better Transport Team
