Democrat,
As we move forward into 2025, we are reminded of the shared values that guide us; values of progress, opportunity, and a commitment to building a more just future for all. Governor Phil Murphy delivered his penultimate State of the State address on Tuesday that emphasized this vision for New Jersey, highlighting bold steps toward a stronger, more inclusive state. His leadership continues to reflect our commitment to creating a fairer New Jersey, with initiatives like the $14 billion in property tax relief through ANCHOR and the RetireReady NJ program, which provide vital support to families and retirees.
Our commitment to New Jersey’s Democratic values is centered on investing in education, infrastructure, and clean energy, paving the way for a brighter future. With historic funding for school districts, initiatives to expand full-day kindergarten and universal pre-K, and game-changing projects like the Hudson River Tunnel, New Jersey is leading the nation.
Also this week in President Biden’s farewell address, the President echoed many of these themes, reminding us of the importance of democracy, fairness, and opportunity. As he warned of the dangers of growing wealth inequality and the concentration of power in the hands of a few, he called on Americans to stay engaged, to protect the values that make our democracy strong. His message, much like Governor Murphy’s, is one of resilience and unity, a call to action for us all to continue building a future where everyone has a fair shot at success.
Governor Murphy’s work in New Jersey, paired with President Biden’s focus on protecting our democracy and uplifting the American people, highlights the importance of continuing to move forward together.
On behalf of the NJDSC, we thank you, President Biden, for your leadership, and we look forward to Governor Murphy's continued work to build a stronger and fairer New Jersey.

On January 13th, Governor Phil Murphy signed the Target Zero Commission into law which marks a transformative step toward making New Jersey’s roads safer for everyone. With a bold goal of eliminating traffic deaths and serious injuries by 2040, the 13-member commission will prioritize innovative, data-driven solutions to reduce roadway hazards. By focusing on safer roadway design, speed management, and inclusive mobility for pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers alike, the Commission aims to tackle the alarming rise in traffic fatalities, which increased 14% last year alone. With public input and a detailed action plan set to launch within the year, this initiative underscores the Governor’s commitment to ensuring that all New Jerseyans can travel without fear, paving the way for a safer and more connected future.

President Biden’s Investing in America Agenda has released a fact sheet [[link removed]] detailing the remarkable growth New Jersey has experienced under the Biden-Harris Administration. New Jersey has added over 471,200 new jobs and attracted nearly $5.7 billion in private sector investment, significantly reducing unemployment. There are countless New Jerseyans benefitting from the President’s efforts to lower health care, energy, and education costs. Additionally, $2.8 billion in student debt cancellation has been approved for 54,940 people in New Jersey, providing much-needed relief.
The administration’s historic investments have also strengthened New Jersey’s infrastructure and clean energy economy, including a $32 million investment to reconstruct Berth PN308 at Port Newark, $47 million for New Jersey Transit to modernize the Hilton Bus Garage for battery-electric buses, and $50 million to foster workforce development and economic mobility through the New Jersey Economic Development Authority. These numbers reflect the Biden-Harris Administration’s commitment to New Jersey’s future and growth throughout the years.
