On Wednesday, Gerry officially stepped into his new role as Ranking Member of the Oversight Committee with his first hearing — and what unfolded at the first hearing was nothing short of alarming.
Republicans used the hearing to attack Martin O’Malley’s Catholic faith, spew hateful rhetoric about trans people, and demonize federal employees. They didn’t address the critical issues facing federal employees, or how we can work together to get the best out of our federal workforce.
But Gerry didn’t back down. When Marjorie Taylor Greene launched into an offensive line of questioning, Gerry stepped in to defend faith, decency, and the principles of respect and dignity that should define our democracy.
This is just a preview of what we’re up against. Gerry’s new leadership role makes him one of MAGA’s top targets. They will stop at nothing to derail oversight, silence opposition, and push their extreme agenda.
