Dear Friend,

With Congress back in session, I wanted to provide a legislative update on the work I am doing to advance commonsense, conservative policies to improve the lives of those not just in my district but across the country.

H.R. 28: Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act of 2025 - PASSED

Democrats’ radical push to ignore the biological differences between men and women threatens decades of progress in women’s sports. The protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act of 2025 ensures fair competition in school sports by banning biological males from participating in a school’s athletic program or activity that is designated for females.

H.R. 30: Violence Against Women by Illegal Aliens Act - PASSED

As a result of the Biden administration’s failed border policies, an influx of illegal aliens—totaling over 11 million—have been released into the interior of the United States.

In my district, my constituents Kayla Hamilton and Rachel Morin were brutally murdered by illegal aliens who entered the United States because of the Biden-Harris Administration's open border policies. Women and girls deserve to feel and be safe in the United States. I was proud to vote in favor of the Violence Against Women by Illegal Aliens Act, which authorizes the removal of illegal aliens who commit violent crimes against women.

District Updates

2024 Casework by the Numbers:

Image

It was an honor to represent Maryland's First Congressional District in 2024. As a Member of Congress, one of the duties of my office is to assist constituents in dealing with Federal agencies. If you can't get an answer from a federal agency in a timely fashion, or if you feel you have been treated unfairly, our office may be able to help resolve a problem or get you the information you need. While we cannot guarantee you a favorable outcome, we will do our best to help you receive a fair and timely response.

Last year my office was able to resolve thousands of cases for my constituents and I look forward to the important work we will do this year.

Cambridge Oyster Event:

It was a great time attending the Oyster Ball at Portside in Cambridge, Maryland, and to reinforce my commitment to our local watermen. Maryland’s Chesapeake Bay and its tributary rivers produce many oysters, and it is always a joy to watch our local community come together to celebrate this important seafood.

Maryland Insurance Administration Consumer Advisory for Mobile and Manufactured Homes:

The Maryland Insurance Administration has received concerns and complaints regarding the decreasing availability of insurance coverage for mobile homes and manufactured homes located in Worcester and other counties in Maryland.

The Maryland Insurance Administration provided the following recommendations for those impacted by these developments:

  1. Reaching out to your insurance producer (agent or broker). Your producer may be able to find coverage options for your home in the competitive insurance marketplace.
  2. Reaching out to the Maryland Joint Insurance Association (MDJIA) through your producer or directly. The MDJIA can provide insurance coverage to property owners, individuals, or businesses throughout Maryland who have been unable to obtain essential property insurance through the competitive property/casualty insurance marketplace.

For more information about mobile home or manufactured home insurance coverage, please click HERE or contact the MDJIA via email at [email protected] or by calling (410) 539-6808.

In The News

New York Post Exclusive:

Image

This past week, I had the opportunity to sit down with the New York Post and discuss how House conservatives will work with the incoming Trump Administration to advance legislation that reduces government spending, our debt, and our deficits. I also had the opportunity to discuss my early days growing up in Queens, New York, attending medical school, and my early days in politics.

As Chairman of the House Freedom Caucus, I will work tirelessly to reduce wasteful government spending and bring fiscal sanity back to Washington.

Reappointed as Chairman of the Chairman of House Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies:

It is an honor to be renamed Chairman of the Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies subcommittee on Appropriations. Agriculture is the economic backbone of Maryland's First Congressional District, and it touches the lives of Americans daily as we all depend on a safe food and drug supply overseen by both the Department of Agriculture and the Food and Drug Administration. Additionally, as a physician, I look forward to ensuring the safety and efficacy of the latest developments in drug and medical device research as well as steering our nutrition policy toward promoting healthy food choices, starting with changes to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance (SNAP) program.

60th Inauguration Tickets Update:

Due to extreme cold weather conditions, President Trump’s swearing in ceremony has been moved indoors. As such, we have been notified by the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies (JCCIC) that all tickets are now commemorative only, as the outdoor event is no longer occurring.

We do want to highlight there are other ways to view the inauguration. It is our understanding the Capital One Arena in Downtown D.C. will be open Monday for people to watch President-elect Donald Trump's swearing-in ceremony. From the latest reports, we also understand President Trump is planning to address those watching in Capitol One Arena after the swearing in ceremony. Please keep an eye out for media updates from President Trump and his transition team about Capitol One Arena viewing information.

January 20th is a day we have all been eagerly anticipating. While we cannot control weather events, we will continue to look forward to Inauguration Day and the promise of a new administration.
