I’m looking forward to continuing our work to stand up for working families, make healthcare universal, and ensure our government meets everyday people's needs.

Honoring the late Former Minnesota Senate Majority Leader Kari Dziedzic
This week, I spoke on the House floor to recognize the life and service of the late Former Minnesota Senate Majority Leader Kari Dziedzic. During her historic tenure, Senator Dziedzic led the Minnesota legislature in passing significant investments in our state’s public education system, transportation infrastructure, affordable housing, and green economy.
Her legacy of dedication to inclusive, productive lawmaking and her steadfast commitment to her constituents will be remembered for years to come. Watch the full video here.
Serving as Ranking Member of the House Subcommittee on Workforce Protections
I’m deeply honored to be named Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Workforce Protections within the House Committee on Education and Workforce. Minnesota has a proud tradition of strong labor protections and worker advocacy, and I’ll bring these values with me to this important position.
I look forward to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to strengthen workplace protections and ensure that every worker in America has the opportunity to thrive.
Recognizing a Ceasefire Agreement
The announcement of a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas is welcome news. I’m relieved to see hostages and Palestinian detainees being released as part of the deal, bringing much-needed comfort to the families who have endured so much.
However, an urgent need remains: we must permanently end the genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza, humanitarian aid needs to increase exponentially to avoid continued suffering, and work toward a just and lasting peace and self-determination for the Palestinian people. You can read my full statement here.
Serving as the New Co-Chair of the Congressional Cannabis Caucus
I’m proud to serve as the new Co-Chair of the Congressional Cannabis Caucus alongside Representative Dina Titus. I’m looking forward to pushing for meaningful cannabis reform and addressing the harm caused by decades of criminalization.
It’s time to bring our federal cannabis laws to the 21st century.
Hosting an Immigration Strategy Session in Minneapolis
I hosted an immigration strategy session in Minneapolis to hear directly from community members about how we can ensure our immigrant communities stay protected under the upcoming Trump administration. I remain committed to building a just immigration system that welcomes and protects immigrants.
Meeting with Minnesota Workers and Union Leaders
It was a pleasure meeting with workers and union leaders at the Minnesota Building and Construction Trades Council annual brunch to hear firsthand how we can continue our work together to ensure fair wages and safe working conditions for Minnesota trades workers.
In Service,
Ilhan Omar
