Good afternoon Lowcountry,

Welcome to the 119th Congress! With new challenges on the horizon, our office is doubling down on efforts to deliver real results for South Carolina and our country. We’ve got a lot done this week and you can read all about it here.

Thank you for staying connected with us. Our newsletter is the best way to receive regular updates on our accomplishments, votes, and meetings in Washington, D.C. and right here in the Lowcountry.

We Introduced the Parris Island Protection Act in the 119th Congress

We introduced H.R. 443 – Parris Island Protection Act, to ensure that we continue making Marines at Parris Island for generations to come.

We coordinated this reintroduction with Senator Graham’s office, who introduced the Senate companion to our bill (S. 95) this week as well.

Oversight Hearing: The Stay-at-Home Federal Workforce:
Another Biden-Harris Legacy

A recent report exposes yet another failure of the soon-to-be-gone Biden Administration. Of the 2.28 million federal civilian employees, a staggering 228,000 are never required to show up to the office. To top it off, nearly all of the 1.1 million employees technically eligible for telework are actively working remotely. Even worse, telework-eligible employees at several agencies are spending less than half their work hours in the office—falling short of the Administration’s own return-to-office targets. This is the kind of mismanagement that undermines accountability and efficiency in government.

We confronted Martin O’Malley, former Social Security Administration commissioner about his failed policies, and the far left’s inability to address issues which are common sense to the rest of America. You can watch it by clicking the photo above or by clicking here

We Voted to Protect Women's and Girls Sports

We made a promise to protect women and girls sports– we’re delivering on the promise by passing this bill which would change Title IX protections and ensure only people assigned female at birth participate in women and girls athletics. This bill passed on Tuesday with a vote of 218-206. Watch our video on our official YouTube channel by clicking the photo above.

HOUSE GOP STANDS WITH WOMEN

Protecting Women Shouldn't Be Up for Debate

159 Vote Against the Laken Riley Act in the 119th Congress

On January 7th, the House passed the Laken Riley Act, to protect women from violent criminals. Last year, 170 members on the Left refused to support this bill, brushing off the tragic murder of Laken Riley as a political issue. Rather than confront the consequences of Joe Biden’s failed policies, the radical Left stood by a president who apologized to Laken’s killer for being “illegal” but failed to offer any apology to her family. Shockingly, 159 of those same members voted against the bill again, more concerned with pushing their woke agenda than ensuring the safety of women and children.

The bill now heads to the Republican-controlled Senate, where we’re confident it will pass and move on to President Trump’s desk. Once signed into law, the Laken Riley Act will be one of his first steps in undoing the damage caused by Biden and his Left-wing allies.

Our ‘Preventing Violence Against Women By Illegal Aliens Act PASSES the House

This week, the House passed our Preventing Violence Against Women by Illegal Aliens Act. We introduced this bill in the 118th Congress as H.R.7909. Last time, 150 voted against this bill. Still, even after more crime committed by illegal aliens, 145 members on the Left voted against it.

The bill ensures anyone convicted of crimes like sexual assault or domestic violence is either deemed inadmissible or deported immediately. You’d think this would be common sense but the radical left has shown us their true colors twice now. Read our press release on the bill passing here.

Reappointed as Chair on Oversight Subcommittee

We have been reappointed as Chair of the Subcommittee on Cybersecurity, Information Technology, and Government Innovation for a second term. As chair, we will continue lead efforts to modernize federal technology, protect against cyber threats, and ensure taxpayer dollars are spent wisely. You can read the full statement here.
