Hello FAMMilies,

Yesterday, I shared the historic news of nearly 2,500 federal commutations being granted. Many of your loved ones are included on this list ([link removed]). The “warrants” — official documents detailing the commutations granted so far — can be found here ([link removed]).

The commutations are undoubtedly exciting, but the warrants can also be quite confusing—particularly for those that specify a certain number of months left to serve. We know you have many questions, and we do, too. At FAMM, we are thoroughly reviewing the warrants and working to determine how they will impact your loved ones’ release dates. As we uncover more information, we’ll keep you updated every step of the way.

In the coming days, we will share tools and resources to help you advocate for your loved one and provide the clarity you need and deserve about when they will finally come home.

Having been in your shoes, I understand how difficult it is to wait and feel powerless. You likely want to take action now to help, and we’re here to support you. To that end, we’ve provided a document linked here ([link removed]) with practical steps you can take to help ease your loved one’s transition home.

On Wednesday, January 22, we will host a FAMM federal Zoom call ([link removed]) that will be extended to 90 minutes to allow for a deeper discussion about clemency and other significant federal updates. We’re also bringing in experts to help clarify the current developments and what you can expect moving forward.

I understand how anxious you must be feeling right now. Please know that you are not alone in this—we are here with you every step of the way and will share updates as soon as we have them.

Standing with you,
Shaneva D. McReynolds, Ph.D.
President, FAMM
