Investing in jobs and infrastructure will boost our post COVID-19 rebuild.
Shane Jones today announced $3 billion worth of shovel-ready projects across the country.
This package of infrastructure investments will help kick-start our post-COVID rebuild by creating more than 20,000 jobs up and down New Zealand.
Building infrastructure provides vital economic stimulus and creates jobs at a time when we are in great need of both.
The COVID Response and Recovery Fund (CRRF) set out in Budget 2020 earmarked $3 billion for infrastructure projects.
This package is in addition to the $12 billion New Zealand Upgrade Programme announced earlier this year and existing Provincial Growth Fund investments.
Minister Jones said the pipeline of projects would create immediate economic activity in the metropolitan centres as well as the regions.
“Both are critical to our economic and social recovery from the COVID-19 crisis,” he said.
“Not only has this massive undertaking provided us with the largest stocktake of infrastructure projects we’ve ever had but it’s enabled us to partner with central and local government, the private sector and community groups to deliver projects for all Kiwis."
“I am extremely proud of the depth and breadth of this unprecedented piece of work,” Minister Jones added.

The Farm Debt Mediation Scheme comes into effect today.
This key NZ First policy is 20 years in the making. We recognise that a farm isn’t just a business - oftentimes, it’s a family home and the pride of generations of farmers.
This scheme will ensure all options are explored to resolve debt issues before enforcement action is taken.
