Dear John,
Even among the grim daily toll of pandemic deaths and job losses, the most fateful numbers in the news last week probably came from a huge study carried out by a team of scientists at the World Climate Research Programme. It wove together the warming that we’ve observed so far, the latest understanding of feedback effects from clouds and other systems, and the record of the climate in the deep past to conclude… continue reading ([link removed])

Join the Clean Power Coalition and the Sierra Club for a statewide week of climate action

Coal costs us our health. Southeast Wisconsin, where the We Energies Oak Creek Coal Plant is located, received an "F" for air quality from the American Lung Association. Air pollution from coal plants is linked to cancer, respiratory diseases, heightened risk of contracting and dying from COVID-19, and other serious conditions.

Coal costs us our economy. Coal is so expensive that most coal plants are not profitable and are actually losing money. Do you know how utilities continue to run these uneconomic coal plants? They do it by increasing our utility bills. Despite the fact that wind and solar are much cheaper, utilities that choose to keep running these expensive coal plants are leaving us to foot the bill.

Coal costs us our climate & environment. Coal is one of the dirtiest forms of energy, so it's no surprise that coal plants are the number one global contributors to the carbon emissions driving climate change. Coal also poisons our waterways, and we see this threat in Wisconsin as wet coal ash from the Columbia coal plant continues to pollute the Wisconsin River.

Join us August 3 - 7 for Coal Costs Us: Week of Climate Action. Let's work together as a community to actualize our clean energy future. ([link removed])
