Friends -- Secretary of State Kyle Ardoin has proposed an emergency Election Day plan that would jeopardize the health of Louisiana citizens who want to cast their votes for the November election.
According to The Advocate, the plan "rolls back mail-in voting significantly from the recently-held summer elections, allowing only one category of people to vote by mail if they don’t meet the normal requirements – those who have tested positive for COVID-19."
This means that individuals who are at a high risk of contracting COVID-19 could come into direct contact with people who are positive and who may not know it.
This summer, a bipartisan plan allowed more individuals to vote by mail because of this pandemic. We expect higher voter turnout for the Fall elections, and we need a plan that will keep all of our voters safe. Can you take one minute to contact Secretary of State Ardoin right now and tell him that his plan is very dangerous we need a bipartisan plan that allows more individuals to vote this November; not less.
Tell Secretary Ardoin: We want to vote safely!
We want to send a strong message right now that Louisianians are united on this -- until our neighbors can all safely go to the polls, we need to expand access to voting that does not require going to the polls on election day. By adding your name, you'll be part of our growing community calling for an election plan that increases protections for all of our citizens.
Join us now and add your name to our petition demanding a plan that protects our health and our vote.
Thanks for taking action,
The Team at A Stronger Louisiana
