NEW RESEARCH: Predicted growth in plastic waste exceeds efforts to mitigate plastic pollution. Key finding: Plastic waste production is outpacing our ability to manage it. We've found even with ambitious globally coordinated efforts, plastic emissions to rivers, lakes and oceans could be as high as 53 Million tonnes in 2030. Systemic change that decouples economic growth and consumption from waste production is urgently needed.

** Having a Tough Conversation to Bring About New Solutions ([link removed][UNIQID])
------------------------------------------------------------
How do we reduce substantial plastic leakage into the environment—one of the greatest challenges we face as a society? In Summer 2020, our Director of Science and Innovation, Marcus Eriksen ([link removed][UNIQID]) sat down with Stew Harris ([link removed][UNIQID]) of the American Chemistry Council ([link removed][UNIQID]) (a plastics industry trade organization), facilitated by Meridian ([link removed][UNIQID]) , for a conversation on how to achieve this shared vision. We represent historically-opposed communities on the issue of plastics, but the conversation illuminated many shared values and ideas—as well as some differences of perspective that leave room for further dialogue.
