Team,

As we get closer to the end of election season, you will see articles and hear stories meant to drain your enthusiasm and deter you from voting. The opposition knows how powerful our vote is, and will stop at nothing to curtail the Black vote. 

This is a new, more insidious form of Jim Crow voter suppression. By shaking your faith in the security of your vote and even your confidence in who to vote for, they hope to stop us from exercising our God-given right to the vote. As said in Psalms 52:2, "Their tongues plot destruction, like a sharp razor, those workers of deceit." 

Make no mistake, neither political party has given Black America the full respect and dignity we deserve. We cannot be blind to this fact. However, we cannot make deals with every devil in a position of power out of misplaced sense of determination which comes from a well of desperation for the justice we deserve, but have found lacking. 

This is the most important election in the history of this country and the history of our people. The president and many other insidious forces will try to distract us by using voices from inside our own community, who are only lifting their voice to elevate their platform and for their own self-interests, not our community's best interest. 

We must vote for candidates who value our voice and will stay accountable to the communities who elected them. I can assure you, that is not the Republican Party, and that is certainly not Donald Trump. We must vote like our lives depend on it, and we must vote for the best option that gives us a better chance of realizing the freedoms and equality we have long sought after by preserving a democracy to fight for. 

We must fight to win, not to compromise. This November, by voting Democrat up and down the ballot, we have the chance to take another step towards the promised land our ancestors sought after for so many years. Thank you, and may God bless and keep you.
