Friend –

Election Day is almost here. Alaska is seeing record-breaking numbers for early voting and absentee ballot voting, but we've also seen an election cycle plagued with problems and uncertainty. Here's what you need to know to make sure your vote is counted:

* Make sure your ballot was received. You can do that on the Alaska Division of Elections website. <[link removed]> You just need to provide your first and last name, and your mailing city. This page will check your voter registration status, polling place location, and absentee application and ballot status.

* Get your ballot in! Your ballot must be postmarked or submitted to a drop box no later than Election Day, November 3.

* Find a drop box. Not every Alaska community has vote-by-mail drop boxes. However, there are boxes in Anchorage, Chugiak/Eagle River, Fairbanks, Palmer, Wasilla, Juneau, and Soldotna. Find exact locations. <[link removed]>

* Be COVID conscious at the polls. No voter should have to choose between their health and their vote during Election 2020. We realize that everyone needs options to cast a ballot, so if you plan to vote in-person, public health experts recommend wearing a mask and leaving non-essential people (such as children) out of the precinct. Stay six feet apart in line.

* Forgot your mask at home? Don't worry! Alaska's Division of Elections says it will have PPE, like face coverings, available to voters.

* Is your vote being suppressed? We want to hear about it. Contact the ACLU of Alaska on our voter hotline at 907-263-2010 or email us at [email protected]?subject=Voting%20Issues
