John,
For four years, progressives across the country have been building to this moment. We marched, signed petitions, called elected officials and organized. Thanks to that work, voters came together this election season to turn out in record numbers.
This election, we the people proved nothing will stop us from making our voices heard and our votes counted, despite the coronavirus that has left more than 200,000 of our loved ones dead and the greatest economic crisis since the Great Depression.
With every hour that passes, more absentee votes are being counted and it is becoming clear that Joe Biden will be the next President of the United States. More Americans have voted for Joe Biden than any candidate in American history and his total vote lead will likely grow to over six million votes. Here in Wisconsin, Joe Biden was just declared the winner by more than 20,000 votes. On the state level, we have achieved our goal of protecting the Governor’s veto, preventing a supermajority in the Senate and picking up two seats in the Assembly.
Making Joe Biden the next President of the United States and preserving Governor Tony Evers’ veto is a huge accomplishment, but we know there’s still more work to be done. Wisconsin is facing a COVID-19 outbreak that gets worse every day, high unemployment, and unacceptable racial inequities.
While those challenges are great, these past few months have shown that when we unite across our differences, we can deliver a future where all Wisconsinites can thrive.
Thank you for all you do,
The ABWT Team
