As our nation moves forward after the election, we were happy to see our former boss, President George W. Bush, congratulate President-elect Joe Biden.
From President Bush's official statement:
"I just talked to the President-elect of the United States, Joe Biden. I extended my warm congratulations and thanked him for the patriotic message he delivered last night. I also called Kamala Harris to congratulate her on her historic election to the vice presidency. Though we have political differences, I know Joe Biden to be a good man, who has won his opportunity to lead and unify our country. The President-elect reiterated that while he ran as a Democrat, he will govern for all Americans."
That's what leadership looks like.
That's how we respect democracy after a long, hard-fought campaign.
That's how we bring Americans together in unity to face the toughest challenges that our nation faces.
Clearly, it's time to move forward with the transition.
It's time to come together behind President-elect Biden.
One last thing: None of us at 43 Alumni for Joe Biden are going anywhere. But we have rebranded our organization as 43 Alumni for America. It's time for all Americans--Democrats, Republicans, and Independents--to value honesty and integrity in public service.
