I’m asking you to help carry out a kind of jailbreak, just in time for the holidays.
California Policy Center is going to liberate 200 California employees from the public unions that have locked them in – forcing those employees to pay union dues in exchange for their jobs.
I hope so. This is an example of how Californians can take power back from the unions in 2021.
It’s already working.
Thanks to your past support, CPC helped liberate University of California employee Mike Jackson.
Mike is officially an EX-member of Teamsters Local 2010 and has been refunded all the dues he was forced to pay to the union.
Mike is just one of 225,000 government employees that have left their union since we started our work on June 27, 2018. Their departure from unions means California’s government unions have lost about $177 million – each and every year.
To put that number another way, thanks to you and others like you, our fellow Californians have an additional $177 million in their pockets. Now, that’s a tax cut!
Here’s how that happened.
After the U.S. Supreme Court’s 2018 Janus decision, government unions began bleeding members and started to panic. And when the unions say “Jump,” California politicians say, “How high?”
So, on the same day as Janus was announced, Gov. Jerry Brown signed a bill that prevents California’s government employers – mayors, county supervisors, sheriffs, school board trustees, everyone! – from telling their employees the truth about their constitutional right to refuse union membership.
So, when Mike Jackson tried to leave Teamsters Local 2010, the union refused his request and the university would not support him.
But because of CPC’s outreach to union members, Mike came to us for help. We reached out to our friends at the Liberty Justice Center, and they prevailed in getting Mike’s dues refunded.
Thanks to you and CPC and LJC, Mike is free from the union. And we're not done helping hard-working Californians like Mike.
John, I hope you will join CPC’s $12,200 Year End campaign.
Why that amount?
Because we’ve found that every tax-deductible gift of $61 dollars to CPC allows us to spring one Californian from forced membership in a public union, while removing an average of $900 in annual union dues from union coffers.
Our goal here at the end of 2020 is to help 200 union members break free. That’ll cost about $12,200.
Please consider a tax-deductible, Year End contribution of $61 or more to the California Policy Center.
Thank you for your support, and have a wonderful holiday!
