A Year of Challenges, Community and Commitment
2020 was a year of challenges, commitment and community. The pandemic took center stage - disrupting the world as we knew it and disproportionately affecting the low-income families we serve.
As the pandemic took hold last spring, AHC jumped into action to help residents stay housed and keep food on their tables.
To provide housing stability, AHC Inc. and AHC Management paused evictions and late fees early in the pandemic. We recently extended the program through March 31 for households struggling due to COVID-19. Our entire Resident Services team pivoted to help residents access critical resources to meet essential needs. To date, our staff has helped residents access $1.9 million in rent assistance.
As the need for food skyrocketed, AHC’s Resident Services quadrupled our food distribution sites from six to 24 and worked with more than two dozen community partners to provide groceries, meals and fresh produce to more than 2,250 households.
Thanks to generous community and individual donations, we also delivered 3,000 gift cards for groceries and basic needs. A generous and committed crew of volunteers – both our own residents and community members – helped support these critical programs.
We are deeply grateful for the dedication of our front-line staff members, the support from the communities we serve, and the many volunteers, donors and partners who remain so generously committed to our residents. Thank you all.
