Andrew Cuomo mandated nursing homes re-admit COVID-positive patients from
hospitals. Then he gave those same nursing home executives legal liability
protecting them from lawsuits and prosecutions for providing substandard
care -- something I voted against. Then his administration covered up the
actual number of nursing home deaths that happened as a result.
Andrew Cuomo says that it "doesn’t matter" whether COVID patients died in
a hospital, or in a nursing home.
But it does matter. Because we are talking about preventable deaths.
Those patients — ones we knew were from the start of the pandemic were the
most vulnerable — belonged in hospitals. And Governor Cuomo’s immunity
gave unscrupulous nursing home executives the green light to provide
inadequate care to them without reprisal.
Then he tried to cover up the result by fudging the numbers.
Unfortunately, we can’t turn back the clock on Andrew Cuomo’s decisions.
But we can make things right going forward — starting by repealing legal
liability for nursing home executives immediately. Add your name if you

According to the New York State Department of Health, more than 6,000
COVID-positive New Yorkers were admitted into nursing home facilities
after his mandate.
How many of them would have lived if they were in a hospital where they
belonged? How many staff did those nursing home patients infect? How did
Andrew Cuomo’s reckless decision impact the uncontrolled spread of the
pandemic in New York?
We need answers to ALL of these questions. And we need accountability.
But first, we can tackle the low-hanging fruit of legal immunity. Add your

Thank you for making your voice heard. More on this soon.
