Friend,
It is a big week for undocumented immigrants across the country.
This week, not one but TWO progressive immigration bills will be getting a vote in Congress.
In addition to the Farm Workforce Modernization Act, the Dream and Promise Act will receive a full vote on the House floor TOMORROW.
The Dream and Promise Act, which was first introduced in 2019 and was recently reintroduced, provides permanent protections for 2.5 million hardworking Dreamers, Temporary Protected Status (TPS) holders, and Deferred Enforced Departure (DED) recipients.
If passed, the bill will allow Dreamers, TPS holders, and DED recipients to continue to contribute to the U.S. by providing a pathway to legal residency and shielding them from deportation.
Now is the time for Congress to act.
Call your members of Congress TODAY at (202) 224-3121 and tell them to vote YES on the Dream and Promise Act.
Dreamers, TPS recipients, and DED holders are Americans in all aspects - except on paper. They work, go to school, pay taxes, own homes and are raising families right alongside the rest of us.
The COVID-19 pandemic has further exposed how much the U.S. benefits from the contributions of Dreamers, TPS recipients, and DED holders.
To put things into perspective:
29,000 DACA recipients are health care workers or work in health support occupations
76,100 TPS holders are working in food-related occupations or industries
11,600 TPS holders are health care workers
Dreamers, TPS recipients, and DED holders have earned this path to legalization and permanent status.
Join us in ensuring the Dream and Promise Act passes tomorrow. Call your members of Congress TODAY at (202) 224-3121 and tell them to vote "YES" on the bill.
Many thanks,
Juana----
