I was honored to receive the endorsement of the Council for a Livable World in last year's election. The Council promotes policies to reduce and eventually eliminate nuclear threats and minimize the risk of war.
That's why I'm reaching out today to see if you'll join me in signing their petition urging President Biden to reverse the Trump administration's nuclear policies.

Along with its sister organization, the Center for Arms Control and Non-Proliferation, the Council has been at the forefront of U.S. arms control and national security policy for over five decades now. Together, they have been instrumental in supporting treaties that keep us all safer from nuclear catastrophe.
I share their excitement about President Biden's recent announcement that he will seek to extend the New START nuclear agreement with Russia by a full five years. But, we can't stop there. The Council's petition calls on President Biden to take two more steps to help secure a safer future for all Americans:
+ Seek a mutual commitment with Russia to engage in talks on New START for further reductions of the world's two largest nuclear stockpiles
+ Pause increases to spending on costly nuclear weapons programs in this year's budget request
