How the Sustainable Development Goals can guide Ireland’s recovery

Dear John,
As we campaign for faster and fairer climate action, it’s crucial that our activism doesn’t fall into a silo, where climate change is the only issue we care about. Our work to address the climate crisis will only succeed if it’s embedded within movements for social justice and global equality.
Last year, Stop Climate Chaos coordinated a project to bring together a network of organisations and coalitions working to address different elements of injustice or inequality in Ireland and across the world. We recognised that the different issues we are working on are interconnected and that we are stronger working together, for a more just, sustainable world. This inspired us to develop a Shared Vision for a Just Recovery [[link removed]] from COVID-19, that we published before the Budget last October.
Now Stop Climate Chaos member, Friends of the Earth, is organising a Just Recovery conference [[link removed]] to explore this vision in more detail. The conference is being hosted on behalf of Coalition 2030, an alliance of organisations working to uphold Ireland’s commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals by the end of the decade.

We’ve reached a critical time for action to rebuild our society in a more just, sustainable way. The Government is looking towards long-term recovery from the pandemic and big decisions are being made. It’s the perfect time to bring people together to discuss what a Just Recovery should involve.
So will you join these important discussions on 14th July? Register for the Just Recovery Conference [[link removed]]
The Just Recovery conference will explore how the Sustainable Development Goals can be used to guide Ireland’s recovery from COVID-19. Keynote speakers and leading civil society voices will help participants explore how these Goals can be used to create more open, fair and just societies flourishing within the ecological boundaries of our planet. There will also be a number of parallel sessions to choose from, where participants can explore different elements of a Just Recovery in more detail.
