Louisiana law enforcement leaders oppose SB 118, the permitless concealed carry bill, because it would drop basic training and permitting requirements to carry a concealed weapon.
Under current law, law-abiding citizens can obtain a permit to carry a concealed weapon by going through basic training. Even this simple requirement would be done away with under the permitless concealed carry bill. Sheriffs and police chiefs believe this will contribute to our violent crime problem .
