What Ohio Republicans just pulled in the redistricting commission last week never should have happened. The voters and our State Constitution said so.

Nearly six years ago, Ohioans took to the ballot box and voted on a number of reforms to our redistricting process, and those reforms have since been added to the Ohio State Constitution.

Comparing the laws on the books to the district maps that we're given now is like comparing apples to oranges. Ohioans wanted an end to gerrymandering and ensure that their elected officials represented them. But the Ohio GOP has given themselves a 62-37 advantage in the State House and a 23-10 advantage in the Senate. Nothing about this is anywhere close to what the voters wanted.

As your next Secretary of State, I'll ensure that the will of the people is respected and demand that when the maps are redrawn four years from now, we have a balanced, nonpartisan redistricting commission to protect the foundations of our democracy.

Help me deliver on our State Constitution's promise to Ohioans for an end to gerrymandering and chip in $10 or more today so I can take up this fight as your next Secretary of State.
