In the coming week, the Senate will attempt to pass the Freedom to Vote Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Act -- and when the Republicans block a vote on these bills by using the filibuster, the Senate will begin a debate about changing its rules.

If Democrats are serious about voting rights, we need to reform the filibuster.

Some politicians value making headlines above actually protecting the right to vote. They need to hear from us now.

No Senate "norm" that allows for our democracy to be subverted before our eyes is worth keeping. As long as Republicans can filibuster voting rights legislation, we will be powerless to stop the wave of state bills that are restricting access to the ballot box and making it easier for state legislatures to overturn results they don't like.

We may face long odds in this fight, but I refuse to be silent until we've exhausted every last option. Our country's promise is too much for us to give up. So I hope you'll join and demand urgently-needed filibuster reform.
