Supreme Court Justice Stephen Beyer officially announced his retirement yesterday, giving President Biden the opportunity to fill this liberal seat with another democrat for the next few decades.
We know that Biden vowed to nominate a Black woman if there was ever an open seat. History is about to be made.
Nothing compares to the feeling of defeat that followed the passing of RBG. Watching Trump fill three seats in his presidency was a loss for this country. Nothing motivated Republicans more than that opportunity.
But now we have hope.
And this will give democrats a fighting chance to hold strong on so many battles that will likely face the Supreme Court – the biggest being the overturning of Roe v. Wade. It reminds us that we have to head into our primaries strong and hold our seats come November.
We have to be real with you. This year is going to be tough. Republicans are ready to fight back and they have huge bank accounts and large corporations backing them up. Our grassroots campaigns need to prove them wrong.
2022 is our year to hold blue and to prove to our country that our voices have been heard. We did it 2020 – Republicans saw what we could do and now they are preparing to counteract. Let’s make it our mission to stop them.
