John,

It’s been a while since we updated you on Jessica Mason, our endorsed candidate running for Congress in TX-30. With less than FIVE WEEKS until her election, we wanted to fill you in on where things are and how you can help Jessica get across the finish line on top, and we hope you will join us on Feb. 8th for a virtual event to get to know her:

A lot has happened since we endorsed her back in early November. Her opponent and 25-year incumbent, Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson, announced her retirement. This meant a lot of Democrats were eagerly entering the race.

Jessica is the only candidate in the race who went in with guns blazing ready to primary EBJ and bring a new voice for her community. This speaks volumes to her courage and commitment to the fight for universal healthcare and increasing the minimum wage.

Then, Jessica earned three huge endorsements from New Politics, VoteVets, and Amy McGrath’s organization called Honor Bound.

It is no surprise that people are ready to get behind a strong leader who will be the first Black female veteran in Congress.

Now, Jessica’s team is putting on virtual grassroots events to boost support and raise money despite the challenges that COVID presents to help expand her network. Barrier To Entry PAC is signed up to host one of these events, and you’re invited!

Despite the great news, we can’t take anything for granted. It will take everything her team has in the next month and half to make sure she wins this primary.

Jessica is born and raised in her district. She is an affordable housing coordinator to serve her community. Her father is a Teamster truck driver and her mom was an administrative assistant. Jessica joined the Navy because she couldn’t afford community college and became the first person in her family to graduate college.

Jessica understands her district and has more courage to fight for South Dallas than any other candidate in this race.

Working-class people like Jessica face barriers that often prevent them from running for congress. As a result, many elected officials are not representative of the people in their districts.

We are tired of this. We know you are tired of it too.

This is why we’d love for you to join us for an upcoming Jessica Mason Virtual Fundraising Event on February 8th. Can’t make it? Consider donating a few dollars to help Jessica reach her goal and win her primary. We need all the help we can get!
