Hurricanes Laura, Delta, and Ida ravaged communities across south Louisiana, and after the hurricanes dissipated, a new kind of disaster settled in for the long haul: insurance claims.

Many Louisianans are stuck in insurance purgatory. They're unable to rebuild their businesses, homes, and livelihoods because insurance companies are leaving them stranded in an endless cycle of claims denials.

Check out the insurance reform bills that Gov. Edwards is supporting:
* HB 317 - would require that a form be signed by the insured before any agreement changing the amount of any deductible can move forward.
* HB 316 - would require that insurance companies provide information and documentation about a homeowner’s claim in a timely manner.
* HB 692 - would create a Louisiana Named Storm Insurance Fraud Prevention Authority.
* HB 682 - creates an adjuster registry to help policyholders confirm that their insurance company has sent them a qualified adjuster.
* HB 805 - creates regulations for how a mortgage company disburses insurance checks to a homeowner.

To quote Gov. Edwards', "I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – after a natural disaster, it's unacceptable that many Louisianans are more scared of their insurance companies than the storm itself.”
