Earlier today, ten individuals were shot on a subway platform in the Sunset Park neighborhood of Brooklyn. Six more people were injured.

I am saddened and horrified by this catastrophic event, and am hoping for a quick recovery for all who were injured. No one should ever feel unsafe in public spaces.

I have long advocated for common sense gun control measures in both New York state and on the federal level. Each year, far too many lives are lost to gun violence because there are simply too many guns on our streets, and not enough regulation of their use.

I’ll reach back out soon to discuss specific measures that I’m supporting which will protect New Yorkers from gun violence, but in the meantime, I hope that you and your loved ones are safe.
