Hi John,
This week, lawmakers converged in Tallahassee for a politically-motivated and wasteful special session where they passed unconstitutional congressional maps AND targeted Disney with political retribution for disagreeing with the Governor.
As this shameful show of politics goes on in Tallahassee, I've been knocking on doors and learning about what issues our community actually needs lawmakers to address.
I recently met a voter at the door who is in desperate need of affordable, high-quality healthcare access. You see, he has epilepsy, but in order for him to qualify for Medicaid in the state of Florida, he would need to have FOUR epileptic seizures a month. The problem with this, other than it being an unjust qualifier for access to healthcare, is that his form of epilepsy produces such terrifying seizures that he risks going into a coma every time he seizes.
What's so infuriating about this story is that it’s preventable. Addressing these problems is what our state lawmakers should be doing, and that's what I'll be fighting for.
As a cancer survivor, I saw firsthand how access to healthcare plays a major role in life or death. I'm ready to go to Tallahassee to do the job of a public servant. I'm running because we deserve better!
The people of Florida need relief, and we can’t risk having another Senator in Tallahassee that will be distracted by unnecessary undertakings. If you’re able, click here to make a contribution to help me win this November.
