Friend,
Tomorrow, the Supreme Court of the United States will begin hearing oral arguments on the Biden v. Texas case that will determine whether or not the Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP), better known as the Remain in Mexico policy, can stay in place.
The Remain in Mexico policy is a racist and xenophobic immigration policy that was created by the Trump Administration in 2018 that forces migrants seeking asylum to wait on the Mexico side of the U.S.- Mexico border in often dangerous conditions while their cases are being considered.
Under the Remain in Mexico policy, more than 71,000 migrants, including thousands of children, have been forced to wait in unsafe locations for months and sometimes years while their asylum cases are being processed. According to Human Rights First, thousands of migrants who are expelled under the Remain in Mexico policy are kidnapped, murdered, raped or experience other acts of violence. President Biden has signed an executive order to take steps to end the Remain in Mexico policy, but the action has been challenged in the courts by Texas Republicans and Trump-appointed judges who want the policy to stay in place. This now brings the future of the Remain in Mexico policy to the hands of the Supreme Court.
Dozens of immigration allies and advocates (including us!) will be at the Supreme Court tomorrow in Washington, D.C. to rally against Remain in Mexico and we need all voices on deck to make sure our demands are heard. If you are in the area, be sure to join us! Click here to RSVP>>>
