John: the U.S. Senate is expected to hold a vote to codify Roe v. Wade into law. With news that the Supreme Court is ready to overturn Roe, this vote is critical to protecting Americans’ right to an abortion.

This vote should not fail! But it’s expected to because of two sellouts: Sens. Kyrsten Sinema and Joe Manchin. These two have shown time and time again that they’re more beholden to the filibuster than to the Americans they’re supposed to represent – and now they’re willing to side with GOP conservatives to let Roe be overturned without protecting the right to choose.

I am furious but unsurprised by the absolute absurdity of Sens. Sinema and Manchin. They've spoken about the filibuster as if it's some tool of civility or compromise when the GOP will actively exploit it to exercise control over our personal health care decisions – just like they did to block legislation to protect voting rights.

Let's be honest with ourselves here: the Senate is broken. I am done with having the priorities of the vast majority of our country die in the hands of a pair of senators who have forgotten who they’re supposed to represent. That's why I'm more resolved than ever to defeat Sen. Chuck Grassley (R) here in Iowa and expand our Democratic majority in the Senate.

In the U.S. Senate, I won't hesitate for a second to abolish the filibuster, codify Roe v. Wade into law and protect our reproductive freedoms.We can beat anti-choice extremist Chuck Grassley together. Help me do it by chipping in a donation of $5 or whatever you can spare. We can't let him win. We can't let Democratic sellouts like Sens. Sinema and Manchin aid and abet him. We can’t let the filibuster keep standing in the way of progress.
