Being Olivia and Celeste’s mother is the greatest joy I’ve ever experienced, and I’m so grateful to have had an amazing role model in my own mother to help guide me on this journey.
My mother is a Cuban exile who found refuge here in Miami where her and my father started a life together. While my father was starting his career, my mother worked multiple jobs to keep their young family afloat.
She worked hard to make sure her children had a better life than she did – a struggle mothers around the world can relate to. And that’s what my wife and I are doing now. We are working to make sure our daughters’ generation has more opportunities than we did, and to build a better future for all of our children.
I’m fighting for increased investment in public education, better safety in our schools and more, because I want my children, and all the children in our district and state, to have the best opportunities possible.
Today and every day, I’m proud to be a mother, and I’m proud to be working towards a better future for all children.
Thank you,
Janelle
