That's our little girl, Abby, you're looking at.

Back then, if you had told us our little girl would grow up to be elected to Congress and go on to challenge Sen. Chuck Grassley (who, by the way, was our senator even all those years ago!), well – we absolutely would have believed you.

You see, Abby's always stuck up for what she believes in and fought for what's right. Since the age of 10, she has sat at the kitchen table with her grandfather and uncles – some of them Democrats, some of them Republicans – and talked politics. We may not have been able to give our daughter a trust fund or write a six-figure check for college, but what we did give her was her work ethic. 

So as Abby grew up and saw work to be done, she signed up and did the work. She won election to the Iowa House of Representatives at only 25 years old – and then four years later became the youngest woman to flip a U.S. House seat from Republican to Democratic. We have complete faith that Abby will work her heart out and defeat Sen. Grassley. But we've seen how things work in Iowa. Last time around, our Senate election was one of the most expensive in the country.
