Folks, if there’s one thing you should know about me, it’s that I’ve never backed down from a tough challenge.

I had three goals after high school: graduate from the U.S. Naval Academy, become a fighter pilot, and go to TOPGUN.

I was fortunate to accomplish all three and serve as a fighter pilot in the Navy for 20 years — flying our combat missions from aircraft carriers in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Syria.

Being a fighter pilot takes skill, concentration, and a lot of teamwork. It takes confidence in the sailors who repaired the jet, the officers guiding your landing, and the ordnance men and women loading your weapons. On an aircraft carrier, teamwork is a necessity. But that's not the case in Washington.

For too long, politicians have sowed division in our state by valuing partisanship over progress. And they are not representing the needs of their constituents.

I'm running for U.S. Senate because Louisiana desperately needs a team player who isn’t afraid to take on Washington’s toughest challenges — and puts Louisiana families first. We’re facing off against a self-serving senator who routinely votes against Louisiana's interests: opposing new roads, bridges, clean water, internet access, and good-paying jobs. He passed $2 trillion in tax cuts for corporations and the super-wealthy, but rails against tax cuts for the middle class. Senator John Kennedy focuses more on delivering soundbites for cable news than results for Louisiana families.

Louisianans deserve better. I'm a veteran and a Democrat who will work with others to solve real problems, like Gov. John Bel Edwards. He demonstrated how to win statewide in Louisiana (twice as a Democrat).
