Friend,
Title 42 was supposed to end last week. May 23rd was the date the Biden Administration put in place to end the Title 42 policy when they made the announcement on April 1st.
Instead, that did not happen.
Days before the scheduled end of Title 42, a policy that was implemented by the Trump Administration at the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020 on the premise that it was a public health measure, a federal judge in Louisiana blocked the Biden Administration from ending the policy.
This is a devastating decision for people seeking asylum, who have already faced harm for over 2 years as a result of Title 42. However, this is not the end of the fight to end Title 42.
The White House and members of Congress need to continue to hear from us so our message becomes loud and clear: we are ready to end Title 42 and instead welcome people seeking asylum with dignity and respect.
This week, while members of Congress are on break and back in their districts, I invite you to reach out to them at their local offices and urge them to fight to end Title 42. Find their contact information here>>>
