[1]Alessandra Biaggi - Democrat for Congress
I'm furious, but the sad reality is that we all knew today’s radical decision from the Supreme Court to abolish the right to an abortion was coming.
Even before last month’s leaked draft opinion, Republicans have openly and vocally been working to dismantle abortion rights for decades, all while establishment Democrats across the country refused to take their threats seriously and protect it.
This ruling makes it clear that we need true progressive leaders in Congress who will take bold action — including expanding the Courts, fighting to abolish the filibuster, and codifying Roe — not make the same empty promises every election year.
It’s only a matter of time until Republicans set their sights on their next goal to ban abortion and many forms of birth control nationwide. It’s time for us to start taking the right wing at their word and act urgently to stop them.
In the immediate term, one of the most effective ways we can support people seeking abortions today is by donating directly to funds working on the frontlines in our fight.
That’s why I’m asking: Can you make a contribution — of anything you can — to the National Network of Abortion Funds today? This is urgent.

Four years ago, I ran for the State Senate promising to pass abortion protections in New York State.
They had been held up by a corporate Democrat who gave control to Republicans and blocked the laws needed to protect women, but in my first month of office, we passed the Reproductive Health Act and finally codified Roe in New York.
We need this same urgency in Congress to do the same thing nationwide.
I can promise you right now that once I’m elected, I will stop at nothing to protect our rights and values — especially the right to abortion. That means codifying Roe, and abolishing the filibuster and expanding the Courts to do so.
Thank you for reading, and thank you for adding your urgently-needed contribution to abortion funds across the country today.
