Well, we’re beyond thrilled to share that Shaquana Boykin just WON her election!

Here’s a little refresher about Shaquana: A product of NYC public schools and the foster care system, she entered the foster system as a teenager — something nobody should have to go through, but it’s shaped who she is today and has driven her long term career of fighting to improve the lives of those in her community and ensuring that nobody is left behind.
As Shaquana puts it herself: “I was once labeled as a disadvantaged youth, those words stuck with me, those words hurt. Everyday since then, I have worked towards never hearing those words said to me or any other child ever again. I have dedicated my life to volunteering in non-profit organizations, helping the youth engage in civic matters, and fighting for the best interests in my community.”
Keeping Shaquana’s seat safe was no easy feat. This was a highly competitive race, and Shaquana was up against some tough corporate-funded challengers. With very little resources to run again, she turned to Barrier to Entry for assistance.
