Happy Friday, Team!

As you know, I’m a former Barrier To Entry congressional candidate. Despite not winning my race, I was deeply proud of the competitive campaign and movement we built thanks to B/E. That’s why I was so thrilled to join this team as Director of Campaigns so that I could support other working-class progressives running for office.

One of the first candidates I’ve had the pleasure of working with has been Daniel Ortiz ([link removed]) in his race to represent Ohio’s 43rd State House District. Daniel is as real as it gets. He’s down-to-earth, genuinely kind, and fiercely passionate about the progressive causes we are all fighting for. His bold plans include making healthcare and prescription drugs accessible, bringing clean energy to Ohio, knocking down Republican attempts to outlaw abortion, keeping families safe from gun violence, and beyond.

But last week, Daniel’s well-funded opponent resorted to some pretty dirty tactics by launching misleading attack mailers against him. Daniel’s been running a clean, honest primary campaign since Day One. His strategy has been to highlight his strengths and visions for the future. Meanwhile, his opponent is busy tearing down another Democrat.

We URGENTLY need to counter these attacks — and we plan to do that by continuing to take the high road, focusing on energizing voters and spreading Daniel’s positive message.
