Friends -
Last night, Kansas secured a huge win for our nation by voting down a constitutional amendment that would have restricted the right to abortion across the state.
As the first state to put abortion rights on the ballot since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in June, this a massive moment for our movement.
A typically-conservative, Republican stronghold has firmly rejected the right-wing in a landslide, and affirmed that the right to an abortion is fundamental, popular, and one that we will fight tooth and nail to defend.
This referendum should be a clear message to Democrats across the country: now is the time to act boldly and protect the right to abortion nationwide by codifying Roe v. Wade.
The courage and urgency that the people of Kansas acted with yesterday is the same courage and urgency we must demand from our representatives in Washington.
That's why I'm running for Congress, and it's why I have to ask — especially today:
When I was elected to the New York State Senate in 2018, our movement passed the Reproductive Health Act in my first month in office, codifying Roe and securing abortion rights across New York.
On the other hand, my opponent Sean Patrick Maloney — in his role as chairman of the DCCC — led the establishment's 11th-hour rally in support of Henry Cuellar, the only anti-choice Democrat in the House.
There's only one choice in this primary when it comes to protecting our right to abortion.
Kansas made it clear last night: the best candidates to beat Republicans in November will be leaders who have fought for our rights — not corporate Democrats who cowered and let the right wing dismantle them.
But winning this primary is going to take a lot of resources… and while my opponent is happy to take corporate PAC money, we're funding this campaign the right way: together.
So I have to ask, one more time before tonight's final FEC fundraising deadline:
Thank you for adding a donation today if you can. I'm so proud to be a part of this team with you.
In solidarity,
