Working in conjunction with local, state, and federal officials, Governor John Bel Edwards has secured over $253 million for disaster preparedness efforts in 25 parishes across Louisiana that were impacted by Hurricane Ida.

“Hurricane Ida devastated our people and our coast nearly one year ago, and while the recovery process is often long and complicated, we will use these funds to not only further the restoration efforts still underway but also on projects designed to minimize the impacts of future storms," said Gov. John Bel Edwards
The Hazard Mitigation Grant Program funds will go towards efforts to lessen or erase the long-term risk to life and property that disasters can have. These efforts include reconstruction of flood-prone structures, improving localized drainage systems, construction of safe rooms, and residential elevation.
