ADOPT TIMTOM TODAY – JUST £3 A MONTH

Hi John

When you adopt our orphan orangutan Timtom ( [link removed] ) to celebrate International Orangutan Day this Friday, you won’t just be funding her care; you’ll also support a successful conservation project for this critically endangered species. Timtom’s adopters look after her as she learns how to live in the wild – proving rehabilitation really works!

Protecting over 600 orangutans, Lamandau Wildlife Reserve in Borneo's tropical forest has seen a baby boom, including several born to ex-captive orphans, already returned to the wild. So, YOU will be supporting orangutan rescue, rehabilitation and conservation when you adopt Timtom today! ( [link removed] )

Timtom (on the right) was taken from her wild mother as a baby and kept illegally as a pet. But, fortunately, this vulnerable infant was rescued by our Orangutan Foundation colleagues and – aged just nine months – was the youngest orphan to enter their soft release programme.

Today, Timtom is gradually preparing for a wild life at a special release camp. A confident climber, she is already adept at finding food, but, so far, shows little interest in making a nest like the other orphans. Instead, she comes down from the trees and rolls on the ground, throwing leaves over herself – what a performer!

Fruit-eating orangutans are a ‘keystone species’ and their conservation has a global impact. Trees grown from seeds in their droppings take in carbon dioxide (helping prevent climate change) and release oxygen. SE Asia’s rainforests pump water vapour into the atmosphere forming weather systems that deliver rain thousands of miles away.

So, why don’t you go ape on this International Orangutan Day? Together, by saving orangutans, we can help forests to thrive AND in turn, help reduce the devastating impacts of climate change!

From your ape-loving friends – the future really is orange with Born Free!

PS. Don’t forget, you’ll enjoy a personalised gift pack, optional cuddly toy and regular updates as part of your adoption. Go Green and choose our digital pack at checkout to help give even more funds to Timtom!
