Hello John,
I hope the summer is treating you well. Families are returning from vacation and kids head back to school on Monday. Team McDuffie and our volunteers have been hitting the campaign trail seven days a week to elect Kenyan to represent all of DC on the Council. And we are just getting started. Here’s what we have coming up this weekend and what you may have missed from recent activities. Let’s go!
Knock on doors with Kenyan on Sunday, August 28
It’s going to be a beautiful weekend in DC. Are you able to join us to knock on doors on Sunday at 1 PM at St. John’s College High School? Sign up here <[link removed]> if you can!
Can’t make it on Sunday but want to join us another time? Sign up here <[link removed]> and we’ll find a time that works for you. This people-powered campaign and the outcome of the election will depend on supporters like you. We will have opportunities to canvass, phonebank and text supporters, and attend events throughout the week, every week until election day.
Host a Meet and Greet for Kenyan
Want to host a Meet and Greet for Kenyan? Sign up here <[link removed]> and the campaign will follow up to connect with you. Kenyan is bringing this campaign to living rooms and small businesses in every corner of the city.
Yard Signs are Coming!
There’s no better way to show your support for Kenyan and the leadership we need more than ever today. Would you like a yard sign delivered to your home? <[link removed]> We’ll have them planted in your yard or in your window as soon as they arrive. And for those interested in helping us get them to neighbors and senior citizens, let us know at
[email protected] <mailto:

Campaign Updates
Kenyan declared his candidacy just 55 days ago and since then:
- Submitted more than double the amount of signatures necessary to ensure his name appears on the ballot
- Raised over $250,000—more than any other candidate in the race—from residents across the District of Columbia
Petitions + Pick Two
In case you missed it, we were the first campaign to submit signatures to add Kenyan’s name to the ballot on November 8 and submitted over 6,000 signatures, more than double the required amount! The petition challenge period is over, so we’re excited to share that you will be able to cast your vote on November 8 for Kenyan! And remember to pick two! That’s right—you can vote for two At-Large candidates, so make sure you complete your entire ballot.

Kenyan in the News
Last year, Kenyan authored and secured funding for the country’s first Baby Bonds program <[link removed]>, a game-changing program that will provide low-income families up to $1,000 a year for every eligible child born in DC to use for college, starting a business, or purchasing a home when they turn 18.
Since taking office <[link removed]>, Kenyan has been leading the fight to end the historic stormwater flooding challenges faced by residents in Northeast. He successfully pushed for the acceleration of the construction of the Northeast Boundary Tunnel – a major water and sewer infrastructure project – and secured financial relief for residents and small businesses who have been the most impacted by the flooding. Kenyan continues to push for more relief and solutions by the city to put an end to this century-old problem.
Wind me up, Chuck! <[link removed]>Kenyan attended the annual Chuck Brown Day at Chuck Brown Park. Kenyan led the Council in making go-go the official music of the District of Columbia. Every year, residents and tourists from afar travel to the Northeast park and celebrate the sounds of DC.
