The signing of this bill is the culmination of so much hard work, activism, and voter turnout – but I want to take a pause from all the festivities to explain why we are celebrating. Here's just a few reasons why this legislation matters so much:

* The Inflation Reduction Act helps us fight the climate crisis we are in by lowering our carbon emissions by 40% from 2005 levels until 2030.
* It invests in American manufacturing and creates brand new jobs in the clean energy sector – helping our economy and tackling climate change.
* It lowers health care costs for Americans and takes real steps to reduce the price of prescription drugs.
* And it does all this without raising taxes by even a penny on Americans who make less than $400,000 a year.

To sum it up, and borrow some language from President Biden, the Inflation Reduction Act is a big deal.

With the Inflation Reduction Act, President Biden helped reform our health care system and gave our planet and the families who call it home a fighting chance. He made sure that corporations pay their fair share, instead of getting a free ride on the taxpayer's dime. After four years of Trump's disastrous administration, President Biden is rebuilding our country and finally delivering families the change they need.

Make no mistake, this progress has only been possible because of President Biden's Democratic partners in the House and the Senate. If we want to continue seeing progress like this, we MUST maintain our majorities in Congress. That's why I have to ask: Please, will you pitch in now so that President Biden and I can keep on winning big, bold legislative victories? I'm counting on your help to gather the grassroots resources we need to defeat McConnell and his right-wing extremists!
