ADOPT A GORILLA TODAY
Dear John
Today marks World Gorilla Day, an annual celebration of these threatened giants of the forest, and a reminder of the need for action to help protect them from extinction. Sadly, of the four sub-species of gorilla that exist on our planet, all are either classified as Endangered or Critically Endangered by the IUCN.
Threats posed by poaching for bushmeat, habitat loss and degradation of their natural habitat have fragmented remaining populations into ever smaller groups that are unable to recover from these human activities. Truly devastating, but you can make a difference today with an adoption ( [link removed] ).
Chimanuka ( [link removed] ) is a rare, wild silverback gorilla who lives in Kahuzi-Biega National Park in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
By adopting Chimanuka today ( [link removed] ), you'll help fund the surveillance and monitoring of the gorilla family, providing local outreach and education, promoting conservation and co-existence, and securing their survival.
