Hi, John –

Call me sentimental, but I think a lot about what I will leave behind in this world.

I think about my boys and the families and lives they are building. I think about the loving, generous, and dependable marriage we have modeled for them. And I also think about our planet, and how the choices I am making today will create consequences for tomorrow.

Our planet is getting warmer every single year. Icebergs are melting and families are facing increasingly severe weather. What happens in the years ahead will determine whether we send future generations into a climate catastrophe. Our legacy will be the efforts we took to limit our own carbon footprints and the leaders that we send to Washington to address this crisis.

During my time in office, I've been a proud advocate for our planet. I've defended critical clean air and water regulations from Trump's attacks. I led the effort to pass the Diesel Emissions Reduction Act. As Chair of the Environment and Public Works Committee, I helped shepherd the Inflation Reduction Act across the finish line, securing a historic investment in clean energy jobs and fighting climate change.

And just this week, my colleagues and I ratified the Kigali Amendment, allowing the U.S. to join 137 other countries in reducing the use of hydrofluorocarbons, a major greenhouse gas. This single vote will create 150,000 new clean energy jobs, bring a major boost to our economy, and allow American businesses to compete with corporations in China.

But, frankly, we're still missing the mark. We should be leading the charge to protect our planet, but instead the U.S. is seriously lagging behind efforts to combat climate change.

With a Democrat in the White House and a Democratic majority in both the House and the Senate, we have an incredible opportunity to turn the tide in our fight against climate change. Future generations and our planet cannot afford for us to falter here.

So please, can I count on you to make a $5 donation to keep me in the Senate so that I can keep on fighting for our planet in Washington? Your grassroots contribution is an investment in our Senate majority, our fight against climate change, and our future.

Thank you so much for standing with me in this fight.

The fight continues,

Tom
