Yesterday was a big day on Team Slotkin – Congresswoman Liz Cheney endorsed Elissa in her re-election campaign, the first time that she has formally endorsed a Democrat. 

This morning, Morning Joe discussed the endorsement with Jon Meacham, author of The Soul of America, a book Elissa has been quoting from lately. Check it out:

The theme of the segment was “principle over party” and that our country has always come out of its toughest times with two things: engaged citizens and principled leaders. It’s a sentiment that has come to be associated with Congresswoman Cheney, and one Elissa frequently discusses on the trail. 

Near the end of the segment, Jon Meacham specifically said: “I think what Liz Cheney’s done is remarkable, I wish more people would do it. And I think that not just history, but people of good will around the country should honor her for it, and listen to her – and vote for Representative Slotkin.”
