I can’t believe it, but there is only a week left until Election Day (it honestly can’t come soon enough).
We’ve come quite a long way since I announced I would be running for Michigan’s new 7th district. We started out with our "Snow Boots on the Ground" launch in the frigid Michigan winter, where we met new voters and asked them their priorities in Congress. And later today, Congresswoman Liz Cheney will visit the new 7th to join me for an "Evening of Patriotism and Bipartisanship" -- marking the first time Congresswoman Cheney will be campaigning for a Democrat. We're closing our campaign the same we started it: by making the positive and hopeful case for the future of American democracy.
Since those very first meetings during “Snow Boots on the Ground," this has turned into the most competitive House race in the state, and one of the most competitive (and expensive) House races in the entire country. I’m not a stranger to tough races. In fact, I’m the only Democrat left in the House that’s won in a district that went for Romney in 2012, Trump in 2016, and Trump again in 2020.
It’s also become clear that the road to keeping the House runs through Michigan. Right now, Democrats have a razor thin majority, and just last week the Detroit News released an article stating that three Michigan seats are a key part of their plan to flip the House – including mine.
We see a path to victory here, and I’m asking for your help to execute it. TV advertising has skyrocketed recently as demand for airtime has gone up way more than what we were anticipating. We’re competing with three competitive statewide races AND three ballot initiatives for time on the air.
